Ian Saudē was born in Hollywood, CA, and raised on California’s idyllic Central Coast. After college, he moved to Katmandu, Nepal, principally to study Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and meditation techniques with several of its greatest living masters. This is still his single greatest passion.

While in Katmandu, inspired by the ancient traditions of craftsmanship, Ian Saudē indulged his abiding love of art and design by collaborating with local artisans to create jewelry and objects which formed the basis for his first accessories collection.

For ten years, Ian led design and production for Saude & Co, his family business. The focus was on seasonal accessories and cashmere casual wear, and on unique private-label luxury goods for other designers, including projects that would become part of top-tier brand collections.

Beginning in 2006, Ian began the process for developing the new brand IAN SAUDĒ: IS, which launched in early 2008. In 2010 Saude & Co. became IAN SAUDĒ INC. and the company opened its first retail store and gallery in San Luis Obispo, California.

We continue to innovate while we prepare for our next generation of business and leadership. After being a successfully managed, grass roots operation, we’re now implementing more formal marketing and brand building efforts like this new website! We also have new materials based on what our customers and partners have told us is important. Thank you for your feedback! We’re now working to better our internal processes, develop in language materials, and extend our reach to new audiences. One of these efforts is our new Vault, targeted to collectors.
